The three stages I thought were cutting then polishing then waxing in that order.
Just two stages - correction and then wax

I've used in on my black Mercedes recently that had some bad bird etching marks on the bonnet. I tried to manually remove the mark with t-cut to no avail so i polished the complete bonnet as it had lots of swirls anyhow.

Two passes with the correction compound completely removed the bird etching and removed every single swirl leaving no holograms

Wipe clean with a micro-fibre, and then use the finishing pad:

Not cheap but, the pads go on and on and on (unlike the foam pads). It's been the only combination of pad / correction compound where I've had real immediate results.
What is the difference between meguiars red foam cutting disc (part number dfc5) and meguiars cutting disc (part number dmc5).
I have been using the former with meguiars ultimate compound. I rarely use the compound but use polish and then wax unless I have a bad mark to get rid of.
I get confused even when using the same brand products.

DFC5 is a foam pad - not microfibre. DMC5 is the microfibre pad

I'll never use another foam pad as they constantly need replacing and are no where near as effective as the micro fibre pads

Thanks, I have ordered everything I have high expectations of this recommendation.

Thanks, and two more questions. I currently use Meguiars Ultimate polish and ultimate wax. Is the correction wax supposed to be even better?
Lastly, I thought you were meant to us polish in between compound use and wax. It was my understanding that doing a car was a three stage job with polish being the middle stage?

Hi Phil, Two or three stage is fine. It really depends on how bad the paint is. As an example, if you had very heavily marked / swirled paint you might use a course compound, followed by a final finish product to remove any holograms prior to wax

With the Meguiars correction compound, i've found it suitable to correct the paint and then go straight to waxing as the micro fibre pads haven't left any holograms. You could use the correction compound with a micro fibre pad and then use your Ultimate wax
